BCP Manager, India
We are recruiting a vice president of BCP for an investment bank in Mumbai. Compensation is USD 35K to 50K per year. Banking and BCP experience are essential; CBCP, MBCI or other credential is less important than practical BCP experience. Please register your interest at Staff on Standby, then send your c.v. to Nathaniel Forbes at nforbes@calamity.com.sg

See an EOC
Have a look around a U.S. public-sector emergency operations center (EOC) in this 6-minute video from Homeland Responder Training Network. This EOC in Florida USA is used to coordinate responding agencies in disasters. It is also used as a training facility, public information call centre, meeting facility and briefing room.  Multiple, daily uses help cover the cost for its periodic use as an emergency command centre.

All Hands Pitch In
The Emergency Manager's Toolbox from All Hands Global Emergency Management Consulting (AHC) contains a treasure trove of presentations, checklists, guidelines and documents for reference.  AHC is a U.S.-based consortium of emergency management and business continuity consultants founded by Steve Davis. Forbes Calamity Prevention has been the AHC partner in Asia for many years.

A separate, new All-Hands Community (called "AHDN" for its URL all-hands.net) lets emergency managers, homeland security and business continuity professionals share information, tools, and resources. All-Hands Community is a non-commercial public service by All Hands Consulting. The news items are American-centric, but professionals outside the U.S.A. can help fix that by joining at  www.all-hands.net and contributing knowledge.

Grow Our Business in India
Forbes Calamity Prevention seeks partners in BCP, crisis management and emergency response to expand our consulting, training, outsourcing and recruiting activities in India. You provide local knowledge and contacts; we provide global connections and twelve (12) years of experience in Asia. And our director loves India... If you're interested, send a message to Nathaniel Forbes. Hint: to get his attention, tell him about a great place to eat in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore or Chennai that only locals would know... Here's our Capabilities Statement. We also represent the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) in Singapore.

World Conference on Disaster Management (WCDM)

WCDM is the leading global gathering for emergency professionals from the public and private sectors. The speakers are from all over the world. The networking opportunities are tremendous; here's the 3-day program from the 2007 conference in June.

1,800 attendees are expected at the 18th WCDM from June 15-18, 2008. If you work in Asia in emergency response, business continuity, risk management, security, disaster recovery or crisis management, WCDM is a great opportunity to gain global professional visibility. And Toronto is spectacular in the northern hemisphere summer.

Next year's theme will be "Resiliency - Individual, Community and Business." Submit a presentation idea by December 2, 2007. Write 250 words about your presentation and then click on "Call For Papers." In 2007 speakers received hotel accommodation and admission to the conference, but paid for their own air travel.

Despite WCDM's long history, large attendance and quality presentations, the non-profit Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness (CCEP) did not make money on the 2007 show. Next year WCDM will be managed by trade show organizer Diversified Business Communications Canada.
