Malaysia BCM Guidelines 2008
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has new BCM guidelines that became effective in January. Banks in Malaysia have until 30 June 2008 to comply with the guidelines. Download the guidelines here (Adobe® Acrobat® PDF file, 43 pages).

There are 17 principles in 5 categories that banks must follow: BCM framework (4 principles) and methodology (10 principles), communication with internal and external constituencies, internal audit review of a bank's plan and responsibility for outsourced functions.

BNM resurrects an old abbreviation - Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD) - that means the same thing as the Business Continuity Institute's obscure Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption (MTPD).

Like similar exercises in the U.S. and the U.K. in 2007, Singapore's will last over several days.

Here's the Bloomberg story about Singapore's last Singapore's last IWE in May 2006. This year's is already getting the attention of bankers, planners and regulators around the globe.
