Jackie Chan (成龙) Fights Birds
Hong Kong's "Big Brother"
(大哥) warns children about the threat of 'bird flu' in this video from the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization. The origami cranes are cute and colorful, the children even cuter.  But the Rush Hour star's message should have been in Cantonese or Mandarin: he almost loses his fight with English here. Note: the video is in .mpg format

And The Winners Are...
BCP Asia will announce winners of the first Asia Business Continuity Awards on 30 October in Singapore. Asian companies and the Asia offices of non-Asian companies are eligible.

One nominated company will be recognized for excellence in its business continuity program.  A "Business Continuity Manager of the Year" in Asia will also be honored, and one old soul will receive a "Lifetime Achievement" award. And there are three (3) categories for vendors: recovery sites, records storage, and BCP-related software.

Want to win? Submit this ABCA entry form. You have 2,000 words to state your case, and need USD $100 to nominate a person, or USD $500 to nominate a company.  The judges include Lyndon Bird (U.K.), Jane White (U.K.) and John Worthington (Australia). A U.S. judge will be added to the panel soon.

Online Emergency Management Training
Homeland Responder Training Network (HRTN) offers a large catalog of online video training "briefs" and DVD's about emergency response (ER) and emergency management (EM) for both professionals and volunteers. Here's a sample: Recognizing A Terrorist Incident

The company is in Florida, so you'll hear law enforcement officers speaking English in Southern American drawls and Brooklyn accents about disaster site security, critical incident stress, Incident Command System (ICS) and other topics.

HRTN offers a new video about once a week by email: subscribe here.
