I
have a dream:
All HR software should have a module that would:
- store multiple phone and pager numbers, and email addresses, for
every employee
- store the names of next-of-kin and ways to reach them (think: big
families)
- record physicians' names and numbers for each employee
- record - confidentially - an individual's disabilities, allergies
and medical needs
- assign every employee a 'buddy' for emergencies
- create, populate, update and print "call trees" and notification
groups
- integrate with communication hardware and web-based notification
services

It should
be HR's responsibility to collect and keep such information. Employees
would be encouraged but not required to give HR this information.
If you agree, send me a note.
Disagree? Tell me why.
What HR software does your company use?

Ready,
Fire, Aim A new idea from Strohl Systems: test first, then improve your BCP based on what you learn from
the test. Exercises and rehearsals get 'buy-in' from employees than
any other BCP activity, in our experience. Strohl has a Singapore
office and advertises on FCP's web site.
Got Gear? What is a Battle
Box and what goes in it? Or in a Go
Bag? You probably don't keep this stuff around the office; you assume emergency
responders have it, and you hope you don't need it anyway. But in
an earthquake, typhoon, cyclone or a flood (think: Asia,
Caribbean),
these items could save lives.
Budgeting for BCP? We have one-page spreadsheet to help you estimate your budget. Send
